4 days to go!

Ok, now we are starting to get excited.  Christmas is over for another year and all the items on my Thailand list are crossed off.  My backpack is packed and only weighs 12kg, that means I can shop shop shop to a maximum of 22 kg before I have to ship things home.  I actually found a travel scale so Bill can relax, everything can be weighed before we get to the airport in Chaing Mai.  I will check in again once we arrive and survived our long flight.

The Itinerary in a nut shell

We fly into Bangkok and tour the city for four days.  For the most part I have hired tour guides as I have heard the city can be very over whelming and there is a lot to see.  The best way to travel is by public transportation such as the rapid transit or subway.

From Bangkok we are taking a 12 hour overnight train to Chiang Mai in central Thailand for 6 days.  My research tells me the people of Chiang Mai are amazing and I'm not sure 6 days will be long enough.

Then we fly south to Phuket and travel to a small village about 2 hours north call Khao Lak.  This is where we are going on a live aboard snorkel boat off the coast of Thailand to an archipelago of 9 islands called the Similan Islands.

Next we travel back to Phuket and take a ferry to Ko Phi Phi for 5 days and then another ferry to Railay Beach just south of Krabi for the last 5 days.

Then we fly back to Bangkok and home. :(

Chapter two of the Dream - THAILAND

Thailand here we come.  The planning is finally complete, the itinerary is set and now the count down begins.  9 weeks to go!  Thank God for the internet, this time round I did most of our research through travel sites such as TripAdvisor.com; Lonelyplanet.com; Sawadee.com and various other sites that I found along the way.  It was time consuming but I learned a lot about the country, culture and places to see.  Hopefully our planning will pay off and I have left enough time to do all the things we want to do.

My next project is to learn how to use this blog!  Wish me luck
